The US Capitol in Washington DC was on lockdown for a second day as authorities responded to a suspicious package, a witness told Reuters.
US Capitol Police initially confirmed that a suspicious item was found, but declined to elaborate.
An email from US Capitol Police was later posted on Twitter, stating that the area had been reopened and "all test results were negative."
The package was found just minutes after the US Capitol's visitor center reopened following a Monday incident in which a 66-year-old man pulled a gun on an officer, NBC Washington reported.
The Monday incident resulted in the US Capitol and the White House being placed on lockdown.
