Truck crashes into 2 DC Police officers, terrorism not ruled out
Two suspects are in custody after a pickup truck crashed at high speed into three DC employees, including two police officers, one of whom is in “very critical condition,” according to Metropolitan Police Chief Peter Newsham.
Two MPD officers are being treated at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, and one DC transportation department officer was also injured, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser told reporters Thursday evening.

A white pickup truck struck the officers in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of the District of Columbia, an area that MPD Chief Newsham described as a “nightlife area.”
A weapon was recovered from the truck, Newsham said.
“We have to look at that very closely,” Newsham told a reporter who asked if he was ruling out terrorism. “We do not have a motive at this time.”
Two occupants in the truck were arrested as suspects and sustained non-life threatening injuries, Newsham said.
One witness described hearing sounds that sounded like shots.
