A suspicious package has been found at a New York restaurant owned by Robert De Niro, according to local media. The package was removed by a police bomb squad unit, AP reports.
The package was discovered sometime early Thursday, according to sources who spoke with NBC’s New York affiliate.
The parcel has markings similar to the pipe bomb packages recently mailed to top Democrats across the country, CNN reported, citing sources. The source also claimed that, like some of the other parcels, the return address was that of Democratic US Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida.

De Niro is an outspoken Democrat and opponent of Donald Trump. The scare comes just hours after parcels, allegedly containing bombs, targeted Hillary Clinton, former President Obama, billionaire George Soros and California Rep. Maxine Waters as well as CNN’s New York offices.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio described the string of bomb reports as “clearly an act of terror” and said that whoever was behind the attack was trying “to undermine our free press and leaders of our country through acts of violence.”
US Vice President Mike Pence condemned the “attempted attacks” against CNN, Obama and the Clintons, describing them as “cowardly” and “despicable” acts. US President Donald Trump later weighed in, saying that he “wholeheartedly” agreed with the VP.
Authorities later said that the devices sent to Obama, the Clintons and CNN appeared to be pipe bombs and sent from the same person.
