Fox commentator Laura Ingraham mocked a Democrat congressman after he brought along a bucket of fried chicken to a hearing on Capitol Hill. Colonel Sanders declined to comment.
“Dumb and dumber,” Ingraham tweeted in response.
“Chicken Barr should have showed up today,” said representative Steve Cohen (D-Tennessee) at Thursday’s House Judiciary Committee hearing, apparently using his breakfast as a prop. “It's a sad day in America.”
In addition to the fried food, Cohen brought a literal prop chicken to the hearing as well.
The congressman’s stunt drew laughs from commenters on social media.
The House Judiciary Committee met Thursday for a hearing on Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report into alleged ties between President Donald Trump and Moscow. Attorney General William Barr made good on threats to skip the hearing, prompting intense criticism from Democrats, who demand he submit to questioning.
Republicans argue their rivals are using political theater to keep the Russia narrative spinning, though some Republicans were eager to question Barr about possible abuses by the Justice Department and FBI during Mueller’s probe.
