The suspect in a sexual assault case barricaded himself into a building at Paramount Studios, prompting a heavily armed response from the LAPD. The suspect was eventually arrested after a brief siege.
The siege began after local police attempted to arrest the suspect in Los Angeles at approximately 10pm local time on Sunday, according to Fullerton Police Cpl. Billy Phu. Eyewitness footage from the scene captured the extent of the major armed police response.
The LAPD were called in for assistance a short time later, amid reports that the suspect was armed with a knife and that shots had been fired at the studio lot. Police used a Taser and a 40mm non-lethal round to try and subdue the suspect, but both were ineffective.
Responding officers then opened fire with their service pistols, striking the suspect, who fled to a nearby building where he barricaded himself for a time.
After negotiations proved fruitless, police breached and entered the building, arresting the man, who was found to be bleeding from a gunshot wound sustained in the shooting.
He was then transported to a local hospital for emergency treatment. No one else was injured during the incident.
A Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) ambulance was filmed leaving the studio with the suspect inside.
