Plane crashes in New York - all survive
A US Airways plane with 155 people onboard has made an extraordinary crash landing – coming down in New York's Hudson river.
Authorities say a US Airways plane has crashed into the frigid Hudson River after striking a bird that disabled two engines, sending 155 on board scrambling onto rescue boats.
Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Laura Brown says US Airways Flight 1549 had just taken off from LaGuardia Airport en route to Charlotte, North Carolina, when the crash occurred in the river near 48th Street in New York City.
Brown says the plane, an Airbus 320, appeared to have hit one or more birds.
Police say all those onboard appear to be safe.
