“US has no choice but to employ ‘ex-Blackwater’”

The US has extended a contract in Iraq with a company linked with Xe Services, formerly known as Blackwater. George Washington University professor Lawrence Wilkerson says the government has no choice.

Blackwater has been banned from working in Iraq. A new contractor will take over when it’s ready to provide transport for U.S. diplomats in the country.

“Frankly, they don’t have any choice,” said Wilkerson. “We have too few soldiers and marines. The contract is still in for them. Without that contract, we wouldn’t have enough marines and soldiers to be in Iraq and Afghanistan.”
