A row of portaloos were spectacularly taken out by a Royal Navy Merlin helicopter during preparations for a British Army-organized youth event in Dartmoor, in the southwest of England.
The chopper was lifting guns ahead of the Ten Tor challenge when a ‘downwash’ (a gust of wind caused by its rotor blades) comprehensively wiped out a line of temporary toilets.
Fortunately nobody was inside the plastic cubicles at the time of their destruction, but the devastation was made apparent in the streams of toilet paper drifting across the sky and into nearby fields.
The Ten Tors is the largest youth hiking challenge in the UK and involves hiking across several routes in northern Dartmoor.
