Star actor and musician Jack Black has died - at least, according to the Twitter account of his band Tenacious D. Their tweet that the star died has confused the world, given that he has been spotted hanging out with Diplo and flying on airplanes posthumously.
In a series of tweets sent on June 5, the band announced that Black, 46, died from unknown causes.
The tweets appear to be the work of Twitter user @Ruthless after he asked for followers from the band’s account, also tweeting “The Legend is still alive, it is ok guys :).”
The tweets come after allegations that the actor had died appeared on Facebook. An RIP Jack Black page reportedly appeared created on Friday, asking for likes and shares in the wake of Black’s death.
Reps for Black dismissed the page as a hoax on Saturday, telling MediaMass: “He’s still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet.”
One fan in Germany tweeted a picture of Black with musician Diplo, saying he most definitely was not dead.
He was also spotted on a plane to LA, reassuring fans of his wellbeing.
Whether this morning’s tweets from Tenacious D were the result of a hack or a dark joke is still unknown.
