A Chinese man may have finally cracked the sought-after secret code for easy weight loss - or perhaps just an easy neck injury.
Cong Yan, a 54-year-old man from Jilin, dropped an impressive 30 kg (66 lbs) by carrying a 40 kg (88 lbs) cement block on his head for an extended period.
Yan reportedly dropped the weight in a year and has managed to keep it off for four through his daily regime of walking, hiking, and climbing steps while weighed down.
"About four years ago I was overweight, I weighed about 115 kg (253 lbs). I was suffering since I could not move easily,” Yan told RT.
He said after seeking help with losing the weight at his local health center, he decided to turn down the expensive Chinese traditional plaster they offered him, instead choosing to walk to Northern Mountain, where he “saw lots of people doing exercise.”
“I noticed that body warming and walking can make my body more powerful, but only walking didn't make me sweat,” said Yan.
“That's why I decided to use stones to practice weightlifting. At first, I just lift the stone up and down, up and down, my arms became sore very quickly. I put the stone on my head when I was tired, however, I found it was comfortable doing exercise in this way," he added.
Cong is considering an application to the Guinness World Record folks for the most “trendy” way to lose weight, reported the South China Morning Post.
Then again, for some people, carrying heavy objects on their head is ‘old hat.’
