British Transport Police have released a hair-raising video of a man being hit by a train while trespassing on railway tracks. The footage is designed to highlight the dangers of walking or playing on the lines.
The nail-biting montage of near-misses was released by British Transport Police (BTP) to urge parents and young people to take a “reality check” when it comes to rail safety.
The video shows a number of CCTV clips of children and young people making it off the tracks just moments before a train whizzes by.
It doesn’t stop there, however, as the video sends the message home by showing a man actually being struck by a train.
The footage is reported to be from an incident at Kings Norton station in Birmingham last year which left a man paralyzed.
Some 170 people have lost their lives trespassing on railways in the last 10 years, according to a police statement. Almost half of those killed were under the age of 25.
