5.9 magnitude quake strikes off Russia's Kuril Islands - USGS

A 5.9-magnitude earthquake has struck the area to the east off Russia’s Kuril Islands. Initially the magnitude was reported as 5.6. The quake hit in about 200km from the city of Severo-Kurilsk in the Pacific Ocean.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties from the tremor, which happened at a depth of 34km.
