Huge fire at hotel in Mecca (VIDEOS, PHOTOS)

A hotel in Mecca is engulfed in flames, local media report. Multiple photos and videos of the huge fire have been posted online.

Twitter posts show thick plumes of black smoke billowing over the structure.

The smoke can now be seen blocks away from the location.

There are no reports on the cause of the fire so far.

Parts of the structure can be seen falling onto a nearby road.

Firefighters have arrived at the site and are currently trying to extinguish the flames. Some posts from locals suggest the building is abandoned.

The building was empty when the fire broke out, according to Saudi Civil Defense, as cited by local news outlets.

Authorities say they have been able to put out most of the fire from the outside, but now have to comb the hotel from the inside to make sure all of the flames have been extinguished and to find the source of the blaze, Al-Madina reports.
