A new low for Reality TV?

Published: 01 June, 2007, 14:39

A TV-Show, in which a terminally ill woman is to select a winner who will get one of her kidneys, is to be broadcast in the Netherlands later. Before the reality show's launch the Dutch Doctors Association called on its members to boycott it.

The Big Donor Show has been widely condemned across Europe as tasteless and unethical.

In Russia, members of the television community, medical workers and some human rights organisations have described the programme as inhuman.

The BNN TV-network which is behind it, says the programme is intended to draw attention to the shortage of organ donations available for transplant.
