Self-exiled Russian billionaire Boris Berezovsky claims he's temporarily fled the UK because of a plot to assassinate him. The 61-year-old says the attack was foiled by the British security services.
So far, MI5 and MI6 have not confirmed his statement.
Boris Berezovsky, who has been living in the UK since 2000, has often made allegations about being the target of the Russian security services, but the timing of the latest statement is likely to attract extra attention. He has recently called for a violent coup to overthrow the Putin government.
Berezovsky is on trial in absentia in Russia, on charges of embezzlement and tax evasion. He is also wanted in Brazil for alleged money laundering.
