Dagestan suicide bombing kills 4 road police, injures 5

Four police officers have been killed and five others were injured when a vehicle exploded at a road police post in Russia’s Republic of Dagestan. The explosion happened during a routine road inspection.

The initial blast killed three policemen, while the fourth died from his injuries in a hospital hours later. One person remains unaccounted for. The body of the suicide bomber was so badly damaged by the explosion that “nothing's left of him,” a source told Interfax news agency.

Police estimated the yield of the explosive device to be about 100 kilograms of TNT. The blast left a crater 1.5 meters deep and 4 meters in diameter, and badly damaged a checkpoint building.

Hours after the explosion, local security forces spotted a gang of militants that may have been connected to the suicide bombing. The gang was cornered near a local village.

Six militants were eliminated following the attack, RIA Novosti reported.

“There is information that they may have been involved in an attack near a police post earlier today,” the news agency said, citing the police press office.

Police also discovered a hidden cache in which explosives may have been prepared before being loaded into the car.

The explosion occurred near the entrance to the city of Khasavyurt, Dagestan, early in the morning as police ordered the driver of a Lada Priora to stop his car for an ID check.

By intercepting the explosives-carrying vehicle at a checkpoint outside the city center, law enforcement officers prevented an attack in a more densely populated area, Dagestani security officials said.

The Russian Interior Ministry has dispatched a team of investigators to help Dagestan probe the bombing.

Unless you're an idiot or blinkered fool, just following world news regularly makes it plain to see that the Western governments today are fighting only those Islamic terrorists that directly attack them, while otherwise using even the worst Islamists as a proxy tool to wage indirect war against countries that they don't like. But I guess being a Westerner means that you HAVE to be an apologist for the criminal foreign policies of Western governments, eh?

islamist are in fact the evil.. islamist are not MUSLIM is what you should have said.. islamist are the radical brainwashed jewish tool to use in order to destroy countries .. like today they are doing in syria, and hoping for same success in iran..and conducting jihad against russia and tomorrow china..
while real muslims are decent people and want nothing to do with savages that cut the necks of people while screaming alahu akbar..

I think Mr. Lavrov and president Putin had better wise up to the fact that al-qaeda and associated muslim jihadists are actually american assets. The so called "war on terror" by the americans is nothing but a big con by the west to provide them with an excuse to further their geopolitical ambitions and Russia had better believe it is also in the firing line for these scumbags.These scumbags are being funded to the tune of billions of dollars yearly by saudi arabia who are actually american proxies. The americans say they are fighting these jihadist scumbags but at the same time they were providing them with weapons and special forces support in Libya to overthrow Ghaddafi and even acted as their airforce and are now doing the same again in Syria. Wake up Russia, Lavrov saying Russia wasnt going to fight for its position as they didnt want another Afghanistan is actually sending the wrong signals to these scumbags and their american/israeli handlers.
