A ten-year-old boy stabbed his drunken neighbor in the back in trying to defend his mother. The man died shortly after arriving in hospital from the knife wounds he received.

Preliminary police reports say that on Sunday evening in Pskov, Northwestern Russia, a man, allegedly drunk, paid a visit to his neighbors – a woman and her son. Soon a quarrel set in and the intoxicated man assaulted the boy’s mother.

As there was nobody home but her and her ten-year-old son, the boy selflessly attacked the aggressive neighbor with a knife. Desperate to save his defenseless mother the boy stabbed the man twice in his back.

The man, born in 1967, was delivered to the city hospital of Pskov where he later died on Sunday night, Interfax reports. An investigation into the case is proceeding.
