EU satellite for Galileo system launched

The European Union's second satellite for the Galileo navigation system has launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. It will test technologies to be used in the Galileo system including an atomic clock which the EU says will be the most accura
The experimental satellite was fired into space on a Russian Soyuz rocket and successfully separated from its launch vehicle.
The Galileo system promises to more than double GPS coverage in Europe, providing navigation for motorists, sailors, pilots and rescue teams.
