Four combatants have been killed as a result of a special operation in Russia’s southern republic of Dagestan, RIA Novosti reports. The gunfight also claimed the life of one security officer, who was killed on Wednesday.

The operation which lasted for two days is now over.

“We have found four bodies. All of them have been identified. Among them is the leader of Khasavyurt terrorist group Asulbekov. We have also found several guns and explosive devices,” a representative of the Federal Security Service told Interfax.

The group was made up of up to ten militants. Two bodies were discovered on Wednesday and another two on Thursday in the aftermath of the gunfight.
