Georgian officials say several police officers have been stabbed during this week's opposition protest in Tbilisi. A group broke away from a demonstration outside the parliament building and beat up a policeman.
They then attacked police officers who tried to come to the assistance of their colleague.
A little later a group of masked men armed with batons waged into the crowd of opposition demonstrators injuring ten protesters.
The demonstrators say they will continue protesting until president Saakashvili steps down.
