A teenage girl was kidnapped for Vatican sex parties by a gang involving Vatican police and foreign diplomats 30 years ago, says the Catholic Church's leading exorcist priest, who damned Harry Potter as the “work of the Devil”.

Father Gabriele Amorth was appointed by the late John Paul II as the Vatican's chief exorcist and claims to have carried out 70,000 exorcisms. He said after one of the parties 15-year-old Emanuela Orlandi was murdered and her body disposed of.

The outspoken priest says the schoolgirl was snatched from the streets of central Rome in the summer of 1983 and forced to take part in sex parties.

"This was a crime with a sexual motive. Parties were organized, with a Vatican gendarme acting as the 'recruiter' of the girls,” Father Amorth, 85, told La Stampa newspaper.

"The network involved diplomatic personnel from a foreign embassy to the Holy See. I believe Emanuela ended up a victim of this circle."

He also added that Vatican archivist monsignor Simeone Duca, “who was asked to recruit girls for parties with the help of the Vatican gendarmes”, also confirmed the girl was kidnapped for revelry.

Father Amorth’s revelations come as Italian police and forensic experts continue to examine remains they found in a murdered gangster's tomb a week ago in Rome's Sant'Apollinare basilica.

The grave of Enrico De Pedis, a mobster killed in 1990 by members of his outfit, was broken following an anonymous phone call saying the girl was buried along with the gangster.

Bones discovered near the mobster’s remains have not yet been positively identified as Emanuela’s.

But the priest doesn’t hesitate in accusing the Holy See of appalling crime: “I have never believed in the international theory. I have motives to believe that this was just a case of sexual exploitation.”

The debate over what happened to the daughter of a Vatican employee who was last seen returning home after music lessons three decades ago has raged in Italy, with some astonishing versions on the table.

Some investigators believe that the notorious gangster de Pedis was linked to her kidnap as he wanted to put pressure on Vatican officials to recover money that he had allegedly lent them.

The Vatican’s involvement in the kidnap was also suggested by the mobster’s girlfriend at the time of Orlandi's disappearance. The woman claimed the chief of the Vatican bank, Paul Marcinkus, was behind the crime.

The “international” theory says the girl was abducted to be used as a bargaining chip for the release from prison of Mehmet Ali Agca, a Turkish gunman who tried to kill John Paul II in St Peter's Square in 1981. This version of events has not been confirmed either.

Father Amorth is an outspoken priest and a colorful figure, mostly famous for claiming that yoga is Satanic because it leads to a worship of Hinduism. He dismissed the Harry Potter books as the “work of the Devil”, saying they encourage children to believe in black magic and wizardry.

It's time to stop the rot and STOP RELIGION!

It' s time for people to take responsibility of their own lives, instead of blaming/thanking an imaginary character for everything that happens in their lives.

Are people so weak that they cannot lead their own lives; that they need constant guidance and reassurance? Do they not see that religion is the root of all evil..?
A multi billion dollar business, feeding off the insecurities and the weak minded.

The only God is yourself.be good to your fellow person and live your life without fake beliefs that take up a portion of your very short life's.
IF THERE TRULY WAS A GOD, DOES IT NOT STAND TO REASON THAT THERE WOULD be only one religion.?

Much of what is posted here is hateful speculation. Apply that standard to yourself - if accused or rumored, do you want hateful speculation about what you might have done or what would not surprise others that you might do?
Let's be fair: apply the Golden Rule. The truth of the matter will out - always does.

The Catholic Church is a big target. The homosexual behavior (approx. 4 % of priests) brought much criticism (deservedly) upon the Church.
Tragicall y, the Sexual Revolution of the '60's affected not only the secular world, but also the religious world and this is true of all the religious denominations, but Catholics take the most heat (deservedly.)

Tearing down, figuratively or literally, the Catholic Church is the worst response, for the Catholic Church stands alone against worldwide meltdown
of centuries of Christian Civilization. It's like throwing out the baby with the dirty bathwater. The Church is made up of humans, sinners. We are ALL sinners. With God's grace, when we ask for grace, we have self control and persevere through this life with all its temptations. Some of us commit worse sins than others, but no one should denounce before self-examination. The Church, like the world, is in need of reform and that shakeup is taking place. Expose's, leaks, lies, accusations, are all part of the dirty business of cleansing. This too shall pass, and a stronger Church will emerge from the chaos. The gates of Hell shall not prevail against the Catholic Church, for Jesus Christ founded this Church and He is the Son of Almighty God, the Creator of the Universe. Instead of hateful, vitriolic responses, pray for the conversion of sinners and restoration of Christendom, for without that, we will all, except for holy people, suffer much here and perish eternally. For those who know history will agree that mankind owes much to the Catholic Church who founded hospitals, universities, orphanages, schools, churches, monasteries, and missions to help people throughout the centuries, throughout the world. Pray for the Church, the Body of Christ, much wounded.

Actually destroying the Roman Church would be the best response as they are guilty of all sorts of abuse - sexual, psychologic al, emotional, physical - you name it if it's sadistic they do it and with a relish.

If she was 15 years old I am not surprised. What I AM shocked at is that the victim is a she and not a he given the Catholic priests' love of little boys. Good Heavens Help us all. This is not a religion it is a satanic devil cult. Russia should ban their activities. I taught in a Catholic school in El Paso TX and I remember learning that most of the priests in that diocese went to Juarez Mexico to have sex parties with boys as young a 5 years old. The Catholic run orphanages served as the conduit for these events. The same thing happens all along the border - either ninos de calle or orphanage boys are used and sadistically r aped. We even had one of the brothers in our school trying to recruit boys by telling them about his being sexually turned on by his younger brother when he was in his 20's and that he was circumcised. I reported him to the administration and was promptly let go. Found another post afterwards that paid more and is not Catholic. I do not understand, being Russian Orthodox how this happens.
