A man has been shot dead in southern Russia after he opened fire on police who stopped his car. The officers were forced to return fire. Luckily, none of them were hurt in the attack.
“The car was stopped at a checkpoint in the town of Novy, on the border of the republics of North Ossetia and Ingushetia, when the men inside the car opened fire,” said Madina Sageieva, a local correspondent from the Itar-Tass news agency.
One of the men was killed, but two others who were in the vehicle managed to escape.
“A woman was shot in the leg as the men tried to seize her car. She is being treated at a local hospital, but her condition is not critical,” the correspondent said.
Meantime, the search operation continues.
