Gunmen kill policeman in Dagestan

One policeman has been killed and two others injured after an attack in the city of Khasavyurt in Dagestan, ITAR-TASS reports. Unknown gunmen opened fire on a car carrying four servicemen.
The officer was taken to hospital but died later from severe gunshot wounds. The incident happened on Thursday at about 1pm Moscow time.
Two other policemen from the Kostroma and Kemerovo areas are being treated in hospital for head and legs injuries.
The dead officer was part of a Chechen unit deployed to Dagestan. He had been working for the criminal investigation department in the Lipetsk region.
An criminal investigation is under way to catch the gunmen.
On Wednesday another law enforcement officer was murdered in Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan. He was shot several times with a handgun. The officer died immediately.
Those responsible fled the scene.
