Russian businessman, Viktor Bout, faces up to ten years in a Thai prison if found guilty of supplying weapons to terrorists. Richard Chichakly, a friend of Victor Bout, came to our studio to give us his comments.
“Viktor Bout is not wanted on any charges except the one filed yesterday. There are no other charges pending against him by any government or any other body in the world. That is a fact, that these charges in Thailand are the only ones against him. There were some charges pressed by the Belgian government in 2002 and these were withdrawn because they were unsupported or they could not substantiate them. There is a time limit on this, which is why the case against him was drawn out. He became wanted by the US yesterday,” stated Chichakly.
Sochi Olympic costs could climbThe exact budget for the 2014 Winter Olympics and Paralympics has yet to be finalised. The official amount announced by the games' Organisation Committee is about $US 6 billion, but some analysts are saying the cost could be much higher. |
Abkhazia pushes for independenceWhile Georgia's breakaway republic of Abkhazia is calling on Russia and the international community to recognise it as a sovereign state. Meanwhile, Tbilisi has protested against Russia's lifting of the economic sanctions against Abkhazia. |

This is an extraordinary person for being the only person asking for evidence before condeming Victor Bout, thus standing against the whole world's powers and politics. I wonder whether everyone should do the same? People are innocent until proving guilty, and Victor Bout was guilty because someone wanted him to be without presenting evidence. If there was 10 people like Chichakli around, this world may become a better place.
