Russian pole vault star Elena Isinbayeva has claimed another gold medal for Russia – and broke her own world record at the same time.

It’s the 26-year-old’s second Olympic gold after glory in Athens in 2004.

The world record came on her on her third attempt, as she cleared 5.05 metres.

Her latest achievement becomes the 24th time that Isinbayeva has set a new world best.

Her previous record took place just a few days ahead of the Olympics on July 29, in Monaco, when she cleared 5.04 metres.
