'Arab Spring and gas pushed Ankara to Tel-Aviv'

The riots in the Arab world and Israel possibly becoming a gas exporter in the future have warmed relations between Turkey and Israel – so says a former director general of Israel’s foreign ministry.

Dr Alon Liel who also used to head Israel’s diplomatic mission to Ankara, Turkey, says “Turkey has invested a lot of money in becoming a gas hub and now that Israel might export gas – it is very important for Turkey that it will go through Turkey and not through Cyprus.”
