Two tons of black crude have leaked into the Volga River in Russia's southern region after a tanker ran aground.
The oil has covered an area 12 kilometers long, according to the Emergencies Ministry.
The leak has now been plugged and an investigation into both the scale of the accident and its causes are underway.
