On Wednesday night, the Russian capital was hit by a powerful storm uncommon for the region.
Heavy rainfall, winds with speeds of up to 17 meters per second, hail and lightning strikes hit Moscow and its neighborhoods.
Many trees, power lines and advertising billboards were damaged in the tempest.
At least 25 people suffered minor and moderate wounds, while thousands experienced power supply problems. No severe casualties have been reported.

These quick and violent thunderstorms are a common occurance in Washington DC, on hot and humid days. You just have to take cover and wait for 15 to 20 minutes. Then clean up the mess, usually broken tree limbs, up-rooted trees and mop up the water in your basement. The police and fire radio frequencies go wild after these storms, which are legal to listen to in most states and cities in the USA.
