The president of Ingushetia has cut short his rehabilitation and returned to his southern Russian republic.

Yunus-Bek Evkurov had been receiving treatment in Moscow after he was seriously injured in an assassination attempt in June.

The president’s quick return follows Monday's suicide bombing of a police station in Ingushetia's capital, Nazran.

The attack killed at least 20 people and injured around 260.

Evkurov says he's determined to fight terrorism and has called the situation in the republic grim but not hopeless.
