Prince Philip of Britain made a diplomatic faux pas at a meeting between Barack Obama and Queen Elizabeth.

After Obama listed the stops on his busy schedule including talks with British, Chinese and Russian political figures, Prince Philip suggested with a laugh it may be difficult for the US President to tell them apart.

The Queen asked Obama where he had had his breakfast.

“I had breakfast with the Prime Minister. I had meetings with the Chinese, the Russians, David Cameron and I’m proud to say I did not nod off in any of the meetings.”

“Can you tell the difference between…” – Prince Phillip asked.

Obama said: “It’s all a blur.”

Prince Philip is notorious for his inappropriate jokes which often offend minorities and foreigners. On a visit to Beijing some years ago, he described it as a “ghastly” town and told British students living in the city if they stayed much longer they would become slitty-eyed.

There’s hope that meeting face to face the world leaders will reach agreements that they couldn’t, when their assistants were doing the negotiating, said Dr. Charles Kupchan from the Council on Foreign Relations.
