Twelve killed in mine blast

The bodies of the twelve miners killed in the Murmansk region of northern Russia have been identified. They died in an underground blast as they were preparing to detonate some 50 tonnes of explosives.

Six people are trapped under rubble after an accident at a West Siberian coal mine in Russia’s Kemerovo region. Eleven people have been evacuated from the pit.

The roof collapsed during repair works at the mine, located in the city of Mezhdurechensk.

Reports say there was no explosion, but the cause of the accident is not yet known.
