It’s taken just one small step for a hundred and thirty five people to jump into the record books. They’ve set a new world record for ‘rope jumping’, where people jump off a bridge tied to a safety cord.

The event was part of a festival held in the city of Tver.

Rope jumping may look like the more familiar bungee jumping, but it’s more technical and dangerous because the cord doesn’t have any elastic give. The participants must carefully judge their jump from the bridge to create an arc allowing the rope to cushion their fall and not cause them injury.

Because it’s more dangerous its only for true daredevils. The previous record was held by a hundred Muscovites who jumped from the bridge.

In Soviet Russia, you don't jump off bridge... bridge jumps off you!

From all of the Russian YouTube video's I saw, I expected the bridge to collapse.
