Russian football: CSKA wins and returns to 4th place

In Russia’s Premier League, FC Moscow clawed themselves back into third place after beating Khimki 3-1. While CSKA thrashed bottom of the table Rostov.
The league leaders, Spartak Moscow's Saturday defeat let FC Moscow close the gap on them up to 6 points after beating Khimki 3-1.
It was Roman Adamov, who buried Khimki’s hopes with his hat-trick. His first goal came 17 minutes in. Receiving a pinpoint pass from Pablo Barrientos, the FC Moscow forward left the goalie with no chance.
The hosts didn’t make their supporters wait long though. Aleksander Antipenko picked up the ball just outside the box after his keeper’s long pass, and scored with this powerful drive.

In the second half the Muscovites continued to press. In one of their attacks Khimki’s men fouled Adamov in the area, making the referee point to the spot. The striker converted it, giving his side a 2-1 lead.
10 minutes before the final whistle Vule Trivunovic fouled Adamov in the box again. The referee was left with no choice but give a penalty shot for the second time. 3-1 the final score and FC Moscow get back on third in the table.
In the other match, CSKA destroyed relegation zone Rostov in Moscow 4-0.
The hosts opened the scoring early in the game. Jo made the most of the goalie’s mistake, putting his side ahead.
Soon after that Rostov had an excellent scoring opportunity, but failed to get an equalizer.
And in the second half Valery Gazzaev’s men found the back of the net three times.
Jo doubled CSKA’s advantage 65 minutes in. Then Wagner Love making the score 3-0. And Krasich put the score beyond doubt 5 minutes before the whistle.
4-0 the match ended. CSKA back up to fourth position in the league.
Elsewhere, Dinamo Moscow lost 4-1 to Spartak Nalchik. And Amkar drew with Kuban 1-1.
