Russia's Muslims are celebrating a major religious holiday, Uraza Bayram, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Celebrations are taking place in the capital's four mosques, as well as several stadiums and parks.

Elsewhere in the Muslim world, the holiday is usually known as Eid ul-Fitr.

Moscow authorities have deployed around 3,000 police officers to provide security during the day.

Traffic will be limited around the capital beginning at 12:30 pm, and lasting until the end of the day.

Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Russian Muslims on the eve of the holiday, wishing them welfare, health, and success in good deeds. Putin said that by their "fruitful" activity, Muslim organizations are making a significant contribution to the preservation and development of Russia's national and cultural traditions.

The launch of Russia's first Islamic channel is to become another present from, and for, Russian Muslims. The opening of Al-RTV was timed to coincide with Uraza Bayram.

"This is a long-awaited project. Russian muftis who met the Russian president asked him to assist in the opening of a Muslim television channel,” said Albir Krganov, a Public Council member of the Al-RTV television channel. “Today, people read fewer books. They prefer Internet and television. There should be a way to educate them," he added.

Congratulation to Russian Muslims for Eid-Al Fater event and I appreciate that president Putin congratulated Muslims for this event ! However, respond to Mark1 (unregistered) : These men are the best men that humans born ! Without the lord send them to us, we were going to worship stone and money ! They are like the light lamp that guide people from darkness to the light, they guide humans to the first god who started everything like everything has a starter ! So he is not enemy for humans because he created them, the anti god (Devil) is enemy for humans ! Respond to africaboy (unregistered) : Who told you that they don't has respect for other people? The god commands them that "say good to the people" (Quran) and he said that " we made you tribes and nations to know eachother" (Quran) In the end, the god said " In the religion, no force" (Quran)

And today Pakistani muslims arrested an 11 year old Christian girl outside Islamabad for blasphemy and for desecrating the Koran. An 11 year old girl with learning difficulties into custody. Pakistan is a failed state, a 6th century backwards savage nation spreading the loving word of "Allah" and the kafir Muhammed. May God teach these animals compassion towards peoples with different religions and beliefs and to teach them that Christians and Hindus too are human should be treated like such not like animals you put to death for not believing in the same words.
