More than $US three billion is to be allocated to the building of sports facilities in the Russian resort of Sochi. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov on a visit to the 2014 Winter Olympic resort on Monday.
Zubkov met the city Mayor Viktor Kolodyazhny to discuss preparations for the Games.
He said it was important to start building the required facilities as soon as possible.
“The time of bureaucratic-style co-ordination procedures is over. It's high time to build structures and roads. The six years allocated for us to implement our large-scale plans is a very short period of time,” he said.
