Damascus has accepted Kofi Annan's six-point plan to stop bloodshed in the country, a spokesman for the UN envoy to Syria announced.

Kofi Annan has praised Damascus’s acceptance of the plan as “an important initial step” towards ending violence in the country and creating an environment to start a dialogue between the regime and the Syrian opposition.

Annan's plan has been endorsed by the UN Security Council in a non-binding presidential statement.

The plan includes a cease-fire by Syrian forces, a daily two-hour halt to fighting to provide humanitarian aid, and talks to search for a political solution to the crisis.

The opposition has also welcomed the government’s acceptance of the UN peace plan, a member of the Syrian National Council has said.

Bassma Kodmani, a Paris-based member of the group, told the Associated Press by phone Tuesday “we welcome all acceptance by the regime of a plan that could allow the repression and bloodbath to stop.”

“We hope that we can move toward a peace process,” she continued.

Annan has already met with Assad twice. He uniformly demanded the Syrian government and the opposition immediately cease violence in populated areas.

Assad responded by saying that "Syria is ready to make a success of any honest effort to find a solution for the events it is witnessing."

The Syrian president, however, said he cannot stop protecting his citizens.

"No political dialogue or political activity can succeed while there are armed terrorist groups operating and spreading chaos and instability,” Assad asserted.

China on Tuesday offered its “full support” to Kofi Annan's mediation efforts in Syria, Annan said. The same commitment came from Russia over the weekend. Russia and China’s support may prove crucial in implementing Annan's plan, which has been endorsed by the UN Security Council in a non-binding presidential statement.

Moscow and Beijing twice vetoed sanctions proposed by the UNSC, with Russia demanding the council issue a call to end bloodshed in the Arab country not only to the ruling regime, but also to opposition activists.

According to the UN, over 8,000 people have been killed in Syria since the conflict erupted over a year ago.

Just as in Libya, the Syrian Govt. wants to enact reforms and policy's to address the concerns by the Syrian citizens, HOWEVER just as in Libya, the Al CIAeda playbook instructs their US/Israeli mercenary's and terrorists to not seek peace nor reconciliation, all they want and are paid for is death and mass destruction.

Russia, China, Syria and Iran should do well to remember mere months ago, Obama was on his gunboat bully pulpit promising whoever that listened to him that Assad would soon be forced out, hinting at assassination, hinting at the warcrime of aiding Al CIAeda terrorists which also would be directly against standing US Laws regarding aiding terrorist organizations which it certainly appears Obama did in Libya also.

And it was mere weeks ago when the evil US State Department NSA/CIA smear propaganda operation targeting Assad's wife and family by a series of FAKE Emails shown by Syria to be FAKES but repeatedly run as unconfirmed actual emails by Assad's wife. All to demonize the Syrian leaders wife and family.

The US/Israeli rush to demonize, attack, ridicule and smear a nations first lady and her family is a new satanic low which could really backfire on the Obama's and Western leaders familys. What in the hell were they thinking when they just placed their wives, familys in harms way? Such is straight out of the Jewish Mafia playbook which in no fashion whatsoever should governments be using. Of course there's what 3-5 Jewish Mafia leaders residing inside Israel, such a surprise.

Muc h of the world hopes the pediphile capitol of the world located in Tel Aviv, Israel where 95% of ALL Israeli citizens live within 10 miles, is 'Raptured' beneath a huge glowing mushroom cloud SOON!

The real story;
the opposition does not want nor will it abide by the truce, why? because there is no intention what so ever to allow democracy, you need to understand the mind of some evil arabs (the extremists), they want to be kings, they will all fight each other (as in Libya) for top spot, does anyone really think there will be democracy under these vile extremists?.

The world and saudi arabia know very well that if there was a legitimate election with as many as world observers Assad jnr will win hands down, hence the reason they do NOT want a democratic election.

Peo ple should know that in palestine a democratic election was held, Hamas won to the amasement of israel and america, they then did not accept it and refused to deal with Hamas and recognised Fatah instead, hence the reason they don't want a real election but to kill the president and install their own.

Peace plan is needed because Asad is clearly wining. If "rebels" or "freedom fighters" (you'll never hear these words used domestically in the US or even in it's "allies") were wining, Hillary would be preparing her statement: "We came, we saw, he died." It seems she'll be repeating that until the day arrives when "We came, we saw, the Witch died."
