Maria Sharapova wasted no time in beating Lindsay Davenport – it took the number five seed just one hour and six minutes to get through to the third round of the Australian Open, 6-1, 6-3.
Elena Dementieva has also made it into the third round, beating Anabel Medina Garrigues, 5-7, 6-2, 6-3.
Nikolay Davydenko, Russia's top player in the men's draw, made light work of his second match sweeping Nicolas Mahut in three straight sets, 6-4, 6-0, 6-3.
