A teenager has shot dead at least seven students and the principal and injured more than 10 others at the school he attended in southern Finland.

The eighteen-year-old gunman walked through the Jokela High School firing into classrooms before turning the gun on himself.

The police identified the killer as Pekka-Eric Auvinen, who later died in hospital.

Earlier the gunman had posted a video on YouTube saying that he would carry out the massacre.
