The leader of the Russian right-leaning Right Cause party, billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov, has said that he was ready to become the prime minister if his party program is approved by the president and voters.
“I think I can cope with the Prime Minister’s work,” Prokhorov told reporters at a press conference in Moscow on Thursday. He added that in his view, the prime minister was the general director of a large country.
Earlier this month, answering reporters' questions by e-mail, Prokhorov said he was not planning to seek presidency.
At the same time, Prokhorov said that he would not help to implement any political program that he personally did not believe in. But “if the program suggested by Right Cause will be supported by a large number of people and the person who will be the President in March, in this case I can consider such an option,” Prokhorov said. Prokhorov also said that his party supported Russia’s movement towards Europe, which would include its eventual entry into the European Union and the Euro zone.
“It seems to me that our country must resolutely take the step towards becoming closer to Europe. The first thing is to join the Schengen zone and second – enter the Euro zone,” the Right Cause leader said. But he added that presently this is impossible because the ruble as a currency is too dependent on oil and gas. “Our task is to become Europe’s leading economy in seven to ten years” Prokhorov said. He said that this would create three financial centers in the World – the USA and Latin America, Russia and Europe, and the countries of Asia lead by China. In the end, this could save many countries from bankruptcy, including the countries of Europe.
The decision to integrate Russia into Europe might seem a little eccentric for Prokhorov, who went through a public scandal with at least one European nation – France. In January 2007, Prokhorov and four of his friends were arrested and detained for several days in the ski resort of Courchevel over suspicion of involvement in a prostitution ring. Police released Prokhorov without pressing any charges, but the criminal case was closed only two years later. Media reports quoted French police sources as saying that some of the girls accompanying Prokhorov on his skiing trip had received gifts worth thousands of dollars, but investigators have failed to prove that this was not a genuine friendship, but a business arrangement. Also in 2009, the French government officially apologized to Prokhorov and in March 2011, the Russian businessman was awarded the French Order of the Legion of Honor.
Prokhorov promised to present an elaborate economic program for public discussion before the Right Cause’s pre-elections congress which is due in September.
Prokhorov, one of Russia’s richest businessmen, has only recently entered the political arena, though he has very ambitious plans. In June 2011 he became the head of Right Cause – a political party which was formed in 2008 as a successor to the market-oriented Union of Right Forces, the Democratic Party of Russia and the Civil Power party. Prokhorov claims that the Right Cause must become the second largest faction in the lower house after United Russia, and he has already started to attract individuals who could potentially form a shadow government.

Mr Prokhorov unaware about where he lives. His futuristic statements show his naivety.
He is not realizing what it is for Russia and the world at this time the best. He is not realizing where Russia geopolitically and its security role in the world.
I recommend Mr. Prokhorov let on making money and helping the economy of Russia, and may he not interfere in politics. He might could lose your money.
Let leave the politic to do for them what they know.
The hard part is the Asia.
China could lead only Eastern parts of the Asia. There is still struggle going on the Eastern parts of the Asia.
Who is going to lead Southern Asia, Western Asia, Central Asia and Northern Asia for financial sectors or economic growth in the region?
Asia is very unique places in this world.
He is not looked liked Europe, Latin America or Africa.
I think that most parts of the Asia has their regional blocks. It is good thing.
In western Asia, they have their own regional blocks.
In eastern Asia, they have their own regional blocks.
In central Asia, they have their own regional blocks.
In southern Asia, they have their own regional blocks.
On the other hand, we need to bring all of the regional blocks in to the strong union stands up for all the people in the Asia.
We need to do little by little, steps by steps, days by days.
One day, we can create Asia union for all the people who live in the Asia to share their leadership roles in this world and in the Asia too.
If we [Asia regional blocks] work together to solve their own regional problems, we can eliminate half of the poverty in the Asia as well as regional problems.
Do you guys remember?
U.K. and France divide our Asia countries in to the many pieces because they know that working together as a team. It might threaten their power to control or rule the countries.
Now a day, we are still divided. We need to unite again to solve the problems of the regional as well as world problems.

Is this guy crazy? If being a billionaire is all it takes to be an outstanding leader of a country, Rockefeller and Oanasis might all have been presidents. As much as money making takes special talents, so is being a leader of a country. And not just being a leader but being a damned good one; otherwise everyone can be president.
What can Prokhorov offer Russia if he cannot see how unique Russia is and so desperately wants to integrate Russia into Europe; wants to get rid of the Rouble instead of making it into a currency all countries can love and admire? Russia has had enough of the buffoon years of Yelsin. It does not need another clown, who thinks everything American or European is good for Russia. You better kick him out before he 'sells' Russia to the highest bidder!
