In response to the expulsion of two Russian diplomats from the Czech Republic, Moscow is to expel two Czech diplomats, a source said. Meanwhile both countries have provided no official comment on the scandal.

“It’s surprising that this information was made public in the first place. The Czechs were suggesting not to allow it leak out themselves,” cites the source in Moscow the Interfax news agency.

On Monday, Czech media reported that two diplomats in the Russian embassy in Prague have been expelled. One of them is a deputy military attaché, and both were accused of being involved in espionage.

When inquired on the news, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called it “a provocation”.
