'Serbia is one flashpoint in a new world disorder’

NATO peacekeepers have used tear gas to take control of one of the barricades in Northern Kosovo, built by local Serbs several months ago in an ongoing border dispute. Political analyst Aleksandar Pavic insists KFOR forces act as occupiers.

Russia’s State Duma has not yet received a petition from Kosovo Serbs requesting Russian citizenship. Deputies are cautious in their assessment of such an unprecedented situation and say, in any case, they are not authorized to settle such questions.

“According to our information, the request is now being studied by Russia’s Foreign Ministry,” Itar-Tass quoted an official from the Duma administration. “It may be submitted for deputies’ consideration on November 16.

Last week an initiative group passed the Russian Embassy in Kosovo an official letter to the State Duma. In the document, signed by 21,000 Serbs, they appealed for Russian protection, saying that they are being “completely deprived of rights and risk elimination.”

Head of the Communist party Gennady Zyuganov stated the request should be given the green light.
“I believe that we should satisfy the appeal. If this issue is submitted to the State Duma for consideration, our faction will support the petition of Kosovo Serbs,” Zyuganov told journalists on Tuesday.

He noted that Russia has not recognized Kosovo as an independent state, also stressing that Serbs have been subjected to continued violence and discrimination and that Russia has to give a helping hand to the “brotherly people” close to Russia in “language, spirit and culture.”

However, experts from the parliamentary committee for constitutional law say the petition is unlikely to have a positive response.

“Such a request has few prospects, but it will be considered most thoroughly,” they said.

It is not the State Duma who issues citizenship and, to satisfy the request, the law needs to be changed, explained Andrey Klimov from the Committee for International Affairs. He believes the very fact of such an appeal is a “dangerous precedent.”

“Serbs are of course a friendly people to us, but this can draw us into a strange situation,”
he said. “What we need here is a serious analysis and a very cautious reaction.”

The case of Kosovo Serb citizenship has to be very careful to handle it.

It is very important for the Russia Federation.

Saving or portecting human life is good thing.

In contrast, it needs to apply the law.

What does Russia have to gain ?
1-Discredit NATO with no force necessary. 'Asylum' is a huge propaganda tool that the US has used repeatedly to encourage Russians to defect to the US...The Russians should offer these Kosovo Serbs asylum should they be faced with elimination. If these people are forced to leave their homes 'en masse' ie. all 21,000 people, NATO commanders occupying Kosovo must be brought up to the International Criminal Court at the Hague  on charges of 'ethnic cleansing'  ...NATO's refusal to cooperate or the ICC's refusal to prosecute would show the world the sham of Western justice.
2-The addition of a very capable & friendly ethnic group in Russia..These Serbs are hardy , loyal people who are used to supporting themselves under adverse situations as they have proved so far. They would make an excellent addition to the Russian family and they would assimilate very easily.

Those in the Duma who are against, perhaps don't realise they're the last hope of these people - and this is not last hope for something else, but for pure survival; if you think this is an exaguration, then you should plan a trip to Kosovo!

I had a neighbour in my hometown in Bulgaria who was killed in Kosovo.. - do you know why? Because he dared speak Bulgarian in Kosovo! Yes, and to the Albanians there all Slavic languages sound the same, so he was killed - they took him for a Serb. Dont' believe me? You can run an experiement: go to Kosovo and speak Russian.. - then perhaps your Duma is going to be less divided.

Yes, there is a modern day genocide against Slavic people in the Balkans (Nazis would've been satisfied if they saw that), and Russia is the only country that can stop that. All other Slavic countries are either too small or too corrupt (read bought by the Americans), or both, to do anything.

And last: Serbia is being singled out because of the so called proxi. As Russia is well protected (for now), the Anglo-American elites vent their hate (John McCain is at least an honest man.., I give him that) on the defenceless slavic, orthodix Serbs.., while mesmorizing you Russians with re-set games, and economic summits. Perhaps it's time to start waking up. Or if you're awaken, to start showing some guts.
