Aleksandr Rahr from the German Council on Foreign Policy says Medvedev's nomination is good news for the West.
Aleksandr Rahr mentioned that "the decision made by Putin was very surprising but it’s a good news for the West because Medvedev is well-known for supporting the ideas of social-democratic market system. He is a reformist, he isn’t belonging to the Siloviki group – the most conservative part of the Russian elite. He is young and under his leadership Russia would develop more dynamism.
