In a surprise visit, Russian FM Sergey Lavrov has arrived in Tehran to meet Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Political analyst Aleksandr Pikaev from the Committee of Scientists for Global Security gave us his analysis of this visit.
“Presumably Mr Lavrov had to go to Tehran in order to convince our Iranian collegues to refrain from overreaction and to continue to fulfill the promises they made to the international community. These were the promises made not only for the United States, but promises the Iranians have given were for the rest of the international community as well,” says Mr Pikaev.
