As Moscow hosts talks between Russia and Iran, political analyst Vladimir Sotnikov from the Institute of the World Economy and Foreign Relations came to RT's studio to discuss the diplomatic effort.
He says Russia is well placed to act as a mediator.
“The world community understands that Russia has vital interests in Iran and therefore is an effective partner of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The world community, including the U.S. and the major western powers, understand that if they want to continue dialogue with Iran they should do it through Russia,” insists Sotnikov.
