President Dmitry Medvedev is in the Russian republic of Buryatia to discuss social and economic development in the Siberian District.
During his first meeting he ordered the government to prevent any unreasonable increases in energy prices following the recent accident at the power plant in Khakassia.
“We won’t permit the unjustified raising of electricity tariffs. I have already given orders to that effect to the government,” Medvedev promised, “I hope all suppliers will follow reasonable considerations instead of looking to instant profit.”
Dmitry Medvedev has also demanded to increase the safety of strategic sites and to make the necessary amendments.
Before the talks the president visited Ivolginsky Datsan, the republics main Buddhists Monastery, where he promised support for the country's traditional religions without assistance from abroad.
“They are not fighting, but playing”Differing interests from various political forces in Afghanistan could see war in the nation continuing indefinitely under current conditions, says RT former Afghan General Abdul Kadyr in an exclusive interview. |
ROAR: “Nobody is fully satisfied with Karzai”The victory of the incumbent Afghan leader in the second presidential election since the Taliban regime was overthrown will not change the situation in the country, Russian analysts believe. |
