As a neutral person who has worked in all 3 countries recently from 2008 - 2010, my solemn hope is the USA, China & Russia will never go to war against one another. I saw not just the sheer numbers but the discipline & physique of the PLA in Tiananmen (all those Olympic drummers in 2008 were PLA), got up close & personal with Apache gunships, Predator drones and A-10 & F-18 jets in Texas in 2009, and finally saw Topols, T-80s and all manner of tactical nukes roll down Tserkaya in May 2010. Today, any 1 of these 3 nations are more powerful than Nazi Germany, imperial Japan and fascist Italy combined. The biggest most powerful active military block today is NATO (which includes the USA). Hence it is only natural for Russia & China to cooperate to counterbalance that. However, one should also not forget that all 3 were allies in WWII.

A Downey, I have always found it interesting that Slavic nations especially have been asked to choose between being with the West, or with the East. I say to you, sir, that we belong to neither side, and should never be expected to take one. We are the West of the East, and the East of the West. Do not force an identity onto us, for we will throw it right back at you. Russia should have allies, and turn only to itself, and its peoples, as should all the Slavs. It should identify with itself, and no others, except in the realms of peaceful coexistence.

July 28, 2009, 17:55, Friendly Texan wrote > In WWII, Russia and America we're allies. Please don't judge the American people by what our government or military had done! Most Americans want peace, not war, with Russia and China. Our real enemies are not each other (Russia, China, and America). The real enemies are the radical Islamic terrorists who want to plunge the world into a global nuclear war. Our governments need to work together to stop the radical Islamic terrorists; they are the real enemies which threaten world peace. Once our governments recognize the "real" enemy, and work together to eliminate their threat, then, our governments should be able to peacefully coexist. Wouldn't it be a beautiful thing if all of the countries of the world no longer needed to spend billions on defense budgets, and instead use that money for the betterment of people in all countries? The feeling that Russia is an enemy in America is over. It has been over for some time in American minds. It is well time the Russians finally accept this and that we have a new relationship. Our confidence in Russia is underminded when the Russians make very stupid policy moves which undermine American security. (What sane nation would help the holocaust denying, jew hating lunatic in Iran and his fanatical regime acquire nuclear technology of any kind?) Wake up Russia and take command of your government! Encourage the middle east to democracy and leave loose of theocracy!
