All brigades in Russia’s North Caucasus military district are to participate in the Kavkaz-2009 military maneuvers in June 2009, according to the ITAR-TASS news agency.
First deputy Minister of Defence Aleksandr Kolmakov says the scale of the war games will be comparable to those of the Soviet era.
Simultaneously, all of Russia’s military commands are set to conduct demonstration tactical maneuvers at the same time the Kavkaz-2009 war games are underway this summer.
Further, the newly created army re-structuring of brigades will closely study the experience of the military operation in Georgia in August 2008.
At the moment, the armies of 12 NATO countries are taking part in the Cooperative Longbow 09/Cooperative Lancer 09 war games in Georgia, being held within the framework of the Partnership for Peace programme of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
These military drills close to Russian borders have resulted in numerous protests from top Russian officials.

Nazi Germans also excersized a lot before starting new wars. Nevertheless, they lost eventually. Russia plans to attack Georgia again. This time it plans to occupy the entire country, overthrow the Georgian government and bring to power creatures, such as Igor Giorgadze and Aslan Abashidze. However in long term, Russia will lose a lot more than it will gain in short term. Today, most Georgians hate Russia. Tomorrow the vast majority of Georgians will hate Russia. Russia will lose in Georgia just like in Afghanistan. It may take 10 years, but it is inevitable.
I hope Russia become more forceful in military and economic power to compete with the US. We need the strong Russia to help the third world defence their economic and political system. All of the US want is only our natural resources to fulfil the need of their greedy economic system.

I was sincerely hoping that Russia over the last 10 years, would take a very different direction concerning military objectives. Russia should have been making an alliance with Canada. espdecially over the "Arctic", that would be difficult because the US sees Canada as it's primary source of natural resources. That alliance would have been very advantageous to Russia and although threatenting to the US it would have been very legal and opportunistic for Russia and Canada. Because Russia is not going in that direction concerning the Arctic, hundreds of billions of dollars is going to have to be spent by Russia for military purposes and also the risk of another cold war. In fact, Russia forming an alliance with Canada would almost certainly be viewed as a direct attack against American interests, and that would have cause for a miliatary build up by both countries. War games are what they are, games. Canada is a large country with a very small military. The country that allys with Canada has verything to gain, resources and positioning for future economic and military advantages. Russia is not looking ahead, but falling behind because of old traditions and ways of thinking.
