Vladimir Putin and Dmitry Medvedev are poised to meet with top members of the United Russia party to negotiate Medvedev becoming the party’s leader in late May, a Russian business daily reported.

Vedomosti newspaper quoted two unnamed sources, presented as a United Russia party member and “a man close to the leaders of the All-Russian Popular Front” (a recent political project uniting those who share United Russia’s ideology but choose not to enter the party ranks). Both said that Putin will meet United Russia leaders on April 24 and suggested that the party’s convention in late May would elect Dmitry Medvedev as its new leader.

As a result, Putin and Medvedev will retain current networks of reception offices throughout the country – Medvedev as the new party leader would get Putin’s current network, and Putin will inherit the one that Medvedev currently has as President.Besides, one of the sources told the paper that Putin would retain control over United Russia through his presidential administration even after leaving the post of official party leader.

Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov neither confirmed nor denied the information, saying only that the question of United Russia leadership can only be decided at the convention.

Many analysts suggested that Medvedev could become the new United Russia leader after an election convention of the party asked him to head its list for the 2011 parliamentary ballot after voting to support Putin in the 2012 presidential poll.

The fake New World Order is alrady here! He/she is a liar and Russophe so do not worry about this person. It is perhaps Hillary herself of McFoul Now. this is the views of the real New world Order: Putin was the glu that hold the United Russia! Withouth Putin the party is over. I see this as Putin dumping United Russia. What Happen to Putin's Front? what will happen to all new workers who came to vote for Putin in the March4, 2012? Will they moved by the credibility of Medvedev? I think not. Something is going here- I suspect there is inhouse fighting within United Russia-- I do not know but the Communists will rise again and United Party will not be a majority factor in Russian politics within the leadership of Putin-- this is my own views.. Medvedev represent things the Russia do not want: neo-liberalis m and oligarchic power-- Stay tune..

Are they just going to keep passing these two jobs back and forth between each other? Medvedev is not strong..... it would appear you are advocating a dictatorship. Russia should move forwards not backwards. I'm not Russian but I believe it is up to the Russians themselves who should decide who runs their country NOT a group of elitists hand-picked by Putin - I wonder who they'll choose???
