Russia’s first ever state-of-the-art sledge and bobsleigh track has been unveiled in the Moscow suburbs. At the opening ceremony, President-elect Dmitry Medvedev said the facility symbolized a resurgent Russia.

Medvedev said the creation of such centres helped develop mass sport activities in the country.

The Paramonovo complex is designed for high-level international competitions. It has a 1,600 metre track with room for 300 spectators.

The facility is also planning three ski jump launch pads, at heights of 70, 90 and 120 metres.
