Russian tennis player Vera Zvonareva is through to the final of the Sony Ericsson Championships, the last tournament of the season, after a semi-final win over compatriot Elena Dementieva in Doha.

The best of three sets decided the winner. The first set ended with a tie-break going the way of 8th seed Zvonareva. Dementieva, however, fought back against Zvonareva’s serve in the second set, wrapping that up 6-3. Zvonareva responded appropriately, taking the final set 6-3 to win the match.

She will play Venus Williams, who defeated 1st seed Jelena Jankovic 6:2, 2:6, 6:3 to reach the Sunday's final.
